Larry Coppel to Receive the Arthur W. Machen, Jr. Award

Former MVLS board member and current MVLS advisory board member Larry Coppel will be honored at the MLSC Awards Reception December 7 at 6 p.m. at the Lord Baltimore Hotel.  Larry will be receiving the Arthur W. Machen, Jr. Award which is “presented to an attorney (usually in a private practice) who has rendered extraordinary service in Maryland by providing legal representation to the poor or by improving the civil legal services delivery system. This annual award was created in 1985 as a tribute to Arthur W. Machen, Jr.’s outstanding contribution as the principal architect of and motivating force behind the Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts (IOLTA) program in Maryland.”

MVLS was proud to nominate Larry and is even prouder that he will be recognized for his longstanding commitment to expanding legal services to the poor, especially in the area of bankruptcy law.
