Internships

Get practical and valuable experience while helping to ensure a fair justice system. MVLS participates in most schools’ fellowship and academic credit programs.

Law Students

MVLS provides practical experience to law students who will be the next generation of pro bono volunteers and public interest lawyers. We offer a wide variety of experiences, including client intake and communications, legal research and writing, and advocacy. MVLS internships are unpaid, but we participate in both the University of Maryland and University of Baltimore Law Schools’ public interest summer programs, where students can receive summer stipends of over $4,000 for 400 hours of work. We also participate in externship programs where you can obtain credit through your law school.

Paralegals

Our program depends on our team of intake legal advocates who answer our intake lines, review client applications, and enlist the help of volunteers to accept our cases. We encourage paralegal students to apply for an internship. We offer an excellent training ground and help students develop essential communication skills. MVLS will also consider volunteer requests from college and high school students, who are able to commit to a consistent volunteer schedule over an extended amount of time.
