Amy Hennen Featured in Daily Record Debt Collection Reform Article

Amy Hennen, MVLS Consumer and Foreclosure Managing Attorney, was featured in the Daily Record‘s article about debt collection reform. The article is in response to a nationwide report published by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) entitled “A Pound of Flesh: The Criminalization of Private Debt.” The ACLU’s report analyzed more than 1,000 cases in 26 states, including Maryland and acknowledged MVLS as a contributing research source. In the Daily Record piece, Amy speaks about the Maryland Rules creating the ability for creditors to jail individuals for not paying their debts, which can lead to bail bonds and other forms of punishing low-income consumers for simply being from low-income backgrounds.
