CASH Campaign of Maryland
About CASH Campaign
The CASH Campaign of Maryland (Creating Assets, Savings and Hope) promotes economic advancement for low-to-moderate income individuals and families in Baltimore and across Maryland.
How Long Has CASH Campaign Been Serving Maryland?
Twenty-five years ago, in 2001, the Baltimore CASH Campaign was born. In 2017, it joined forces with the Maryland CASH Campaign to become the CASH Campaign of Maryland.
Today, CASH accomplishes its mission by operating direct service programs, building organizational and field capacity, and leading policy and advocacy initiatives to strengthen family economic stability.
How Does CASH Serve the Community?
CASH Campaign staff and volunteers provide direct services and lead a coalition of partners offering:
- Free Tax Preparation
- Financial Education
- Financial Coaching
- Benefits Screening
CASH also hosts events like Money Power Day, the region’s largest free financial fitness fair. This year’s event will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Baltimore Poly-Western High School.
Practitioners benefit from events such as the Common Cents Conference, Continuing Education classes, and the Maryland CASH Academy.
The Policy Team advocates at the local, state, and federal levels to protect and grow the financial security of Maryland’s low-to-moderate income residents.
Why Partner With MVLS?
While reviewing a client’s financial situation, CASH often discovers legal issues that require assistance. Clients sometimes bring old IRS letters they have been afraid to open or share concerns about significant tax debt.
In those cases, CASH handles the tax return preparation and works hand-in-hand with MVLS to address the legal matters. It is seamless to collaborate on tax and related issues — and essential to know that clients will receive meaningful assistance when a referral is made.
