A New Hope: Maryland’s Student Loan Ombudsman & What It Means For Student Loan Borrowers

April 18, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

With student loan servicing becoming a problem for more and more individuals, the need for individual and large scale advocacy on this issue has sharply increased in recent years. Maryland has taken on this important issue by creating an Ombudsman role by legislation passed in 2018, to serve as a liaison between student loan borrowers and student loan servicers. Attendees will be introduced to the new Student Loan Ombudsman, learn about the his role, current issues and trends affecting Maryland student loan borrowers, and tools available to the Ombudsman to assist advocates and student loan borrowers. Staff from the Office of the Commissioner of Financial Regulation will also discuss the consumer complaint process and provide an update on additional Office activity.   Click here to register.

Please note, this training is free, but you are required to be on the MVLS volunteer panel.  If you aren’t, please click here to join.
