Survivor Leadership – Reclaiming and Recrafting Justice in Anti-Trafficking Work

This free webinar will feature a presentation and discussion on how the founders of the survivor leadership movement have paved the way for current leaders to shape anti-trafficking advocacy in Maryland today, and offer recommendations on the need to amplify survivor voices when providing client services, engaging in outreach and training, and crafting policy. The webinar will also discuss the concept of justice for the wrongs survivors have suffered, and how anti-trafficking leaders operating within the criminal legal system can better address survivor voices in their work. Panelists: Shamere McKenzie – CEO, Sun Gate Foundation and Baltimore Empowerment Advocate, Empower Her Network Jessica Emerson – Director, Human Trafficking Prevention Project, University of Baltimore School of Law Heather Heiman – Project Manager, Human Trafficking Prevention Project, Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service This webinar is hosted by the Human Trafficking Prevention Project (HTPP), a collaboration between the University of Baltimore School of Law and Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service.
