HTPP Training Covered by WMDT – 47 ABC

The training for attorneys on post-conviction relief for human trafficking survivors took place on April 27 in Salisbury. This training was a collaboration between MVLS, Eastern Shore Human Trafficking Task Force, Midshore Pro Bono, and University of Baltimore School of Law.

Laurie Culkin and Jessica Emerson of the Human Trafficking Prevention Project (HTPP) were interviewed by WMDT 47 ABC. 

In the interview, Laurie provides her perspective on how this work helps survivors: “It’s a very therapeutic process for the individual because it acknowledges that at the time they were found guilty that they themselves were a victim of a crime and not actually guilty of the crime that they committed because they were under force, fraud or coercion of someone else,”
