MVLS Attorney Janice Shih Writes Op-Ed for Baltimore Business Journal

MVLS Attorney Janice Shih Writes Op-Ed for Baltimore Business Journal

By Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service
Tuesday, March 27th, 2018

MVLS Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) Managing Attorney, Janice Shih, wrote an op-ed piece for the Baltimore Business Journal explaining the significance of back taxes for companies. In the article, Janice discusses how employees from low-income backgrounds often feel fear around filing taxes as many people feel unsure about the amount they may owe. When back taxes are owed, the government can take levies and/or liens from these taxpayers, which can then affect employers negatively by impacting the employees’ ability to work. To learn more about how these tax issues intersect and compound, click here.
