Did you know MVLS offers free trainings to our volunteers? MVLS understands the need for attorneys to continue to grow their practice and develop new skill sets in order to be successful in their careers. Therefore, we have developed an entire library of free recording trainings to support our volunteer attorneys in their professional development.
The many trainings available cover sustentative content from all areas of civil legal services that MVLS supports. This includes consumer law, estate planning and administration, expungement, family law, housing, human trafficking prevention, and tax. There are also trainings available on various skill-based topics that may be of interest to attorneys. This includes topics such as avoiding burnout, creating an online presence for your firm, and much more. All trainings are free, but some require the acceptance of a pro bono case to support MVLS’s low-income clients.
If you are short on time, MVLS offers a series of “Brief Videos for Attorneys” that provide legal updates, business skills information, and several other content areas. Volunteer attorneys may also be interested in MVLS’ “Legal Information Videos.” Although geared towards clients, attorneys new to certain areas of law can benefit from the brief legal background provided in these two-to-five minute videos.
Supporting our volunteers is at the core of what we do. MVLS offers multiple trainings each month, virtually, as webinars. This includes a monthly Third Thursday series on an array of subjects, a monthly Tax Twosday series, a quarterly human trafficking prevention series, and a quarterly professional skills series.
