BALTIMORE – Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service (MVLS), the largest provider of pro bono legal services to low-income Marylanders, today announced the hiring of Jennifer Haber, Esq. as its new Family Law Staff Attorney.
Jennifer Haber Brings Decades of Legal Experience
With over 20 years of experience in public interest and family law, Jennifer will support MVLS’ family law and judicare programs, which connect clients involved in contested custody and divorce matters with volunteer attorneys. She will also mentor MVLS’ volunteer panel and assist applicants awaiting pro bono legal services.
Jennifer’s appointment marks a milestone for MVLS as its first locally based family law staff attorney. Her presence will enable deeper community engagement and expanded free legal education focused on divorce, custody, and other family law matters. This localized support enhances MVLS’s partnerships and extends access to underserved Maryland communities.
Meeting Maryland’s Growing Demand for Family Law Help
“MVLS gets more requests for assistance with child custody cases than any other case type,” said MVLS Deputy Director Margaret Henn. “Jennifer comes to us with a wealth of family law experience and plays a key role in supporting our volunteers and our clients who are seeking to provide a stable situation for their children.”
Jennifer is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law and has worked with several major legal service organizations, including Maryland Legal Aid, Disability Rights Maryland, and the Maryland Office of the Public Defender. Her legal background includes family law, CINA (Children in Need of Assistance), domestic violence, and landlord/tenant issues.
Dedicated to Maryland Families and Community Impact
“I am honored and overjoyed to be a part of the MVLS team!” said Haber. “My career as an attorney is driven by my passion for helping Maryland families in need. I care deeply about the greater good and am inspired to use my experience and drive to make a positive impact.”
Jennifer lives in Westminster, Maryland, with her husband Wayne and their two rescue cats. She is the proud mother of two adult children serving in the Navy and environmental leadership.
