The MVLS Board of Directors and staff would like to extend a special thank you to our sponsors, staff, guests, and culinary partner, who attended A Taste for Pro Bono on Wednesday, April 23, at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. Thanks to your incredible support, we raised $150,000 in critical funding to help advance MVLS’ mission of providing free legal services to low-income Marylanders.
Your generosity makes it possible for MVLS to provide essential civil legal services to individuals and families in need across the state. These funds, along with the commitment of new volunteers, will help us expand our reach to help even more Marylanders seeking free legal help with consumer, housing, estate and administration, family law, criminal record relief issues and more.
If you were unable to attend, we invite you to watch a special Volunteer video produced by MVLS Volunteer Coordinator, Etta Moen.
This year’s event welcomed more than 250 guests and over 50 sponsors from law firms, financial institutions, healthcare organizations, and the greater Maryland community. Attendees enjoyed a memorable evening featuring delicious fare by Zeffert & Gold, dancing to a live DJ, exploring exhibits at the Baltimore Museum of Industry, and experiencing a special culinary appearance by local celebrity chef, author, and TV personality John Shields, who served his famous Maryland crab soups.
We are proud to share that this year’s event exceeded last year’s impact, allowing MVLS to reach 11,521 individuals, assist 6,135 families with legal services, and close nearly 3,000 cases through the dedication of volunteer attorneys and tax professionals.
Thank you again to everyone who participated and supported A Taste for Pro Bono. If you are not yet a volunteer, we encourage you to join our pro bono panel or MVLS CAN program to help us expand access to justice across Maryland.
