Maryland Courts Self-Help Center

Monday-Friday from 8:30 am-8:00 pm, the Maryland Courts Self-Help Center provides free limited legal services for people with a civil legal problem who are not represented by an attorney via live chat.  Lawyers will answer questions on issues ranging from landlord/tenant, family law (divorce, custody, child support, guardianship), small and large claims, criminal record expungement, consumer finance (debt collection, car repossession), domestic violence and foreclosure.


The Maryland Courts

The Maryland Courts website has a selection of Court Forms they have available to download and fill out. Look out for fee waivers in particular and check to see if they are available for your legal situation. Visit MD Courts Court Forms page.  The Maryland Courts website also offers self-help videos on many different aspects of law, such as tips for your day in court, expungement, foreclosure, rent court and rent escrow, child custody, adult guardianship, and representing yourself. Women’s Law Center of Maryland

The Family Law Hotline is available at 800-845-8550. Lawyers available Monday – Friday from 9:30 am–4:30pm.


Employment Law Hotline at 877-422-9500. Lawyers are available Tuesdays 9:30 am – 1 pm and the first Thursday of the month 5 pm–7:30 pm.

People’s Law Library

People’s Law Library – a legal information and self-help website that provides self-represented litigants in Maryland state courts information about the law, including summaries of the law, links to primary and secondary legal sources and referrals for legal services – Visit PLL
