BALTIMORE – Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service (MVLS), the state’s largest provider of pro bono legal services for low-income residents, is strengthening its fight against housing and consumer injustices with the addition of Sean Russell, Esq., as its new housing and consumer staff attorney.
Russell brings a strong background in advocacy and dispute resolution, having coached the Black Law Students Association’s Negotiation Team and served as a supervisor and student attorney in the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic.
“We are thrilled to welcome Sean to our team,” said Margaret Henn, deputy director of MVLS. “His expertise and passion for justice will be invaluable in protecting Marylanders from housing instability and financial hardships.”
As part of MVLS’ mission to break down systemic barriers to justice, Russell will provide critical legal support to individuals facing tax sale, foreclosure, ground rent issues, bankruptcy, debt collection and contract disputes. Additionally, he will support MVLS’ weekly Consumer Protection Clinic at the Baltimore City District Court, where staff attorneys and volunteers offer hands-on legal assistance to individuals sued for debt collection.
“I’m eager to join MVLS and expand access to legal resources for those who need them most,” said Russell. “Housing and consumer issues can be overwhelming without legal guidance, and I look forward to helping Marylanders protect their rights and financial stability.”
Russell can be reached at 443-451-4079 or srussell@mvlslaw.org
