Volunteer of the Month | Eyal Rosenstock

Why do you choose to volunteer with MVLS?
I read that there was an urgent need for family law lawyers, so I felt compelled to help.

Are there any recent cases that you’re proud of? Tell us more about what happened, or about what you learned.
I am proud of a case that began as a contested, high conflict custody and child support case set for a merits hearing, and a contempt hearing; after asking the court for a 2-month continuance, and after a lot of shuttle diplomacy,  I was able to help my client negotiate an out-of-court settlement with the opposing party to resolve all controversies and avoid trial.

What would you say to others who are considering volunteering with or supporting MVLS?

  1. It’s an excellent way to advance access to Justice by giving valuable services to people who have an accentuated need for it but cannot afford it so they would not get the help otherwise.
  1. The staff at MVLS are exceedingly supportive and kind, so it makes working a pleasure and delight.
  1. It’s an excellent way to expand and deepen one’s professional expertise by getting exposed to interesting legal problems and solutions.

It’s an excellent way to meet colleagues.
