Why do you choose to volunteer with MVLS?
I volunteer simply because people need help. I’m not looking for accolades or to make myself look or feel better – I do it because it’s the right thing to do. – Dan Staeven, Esq.

Are there any recent cases that you’re proud of? Tell us more about what happened, or about what you learned.
One of my favorite MVLS clients was a victim of domestic abuse whose identity was used by her abuser to avoid income being reported under his name. The IRS assessed over $98,000 in taxes against her, and we successfully argued against this assignment of income. The entire assessment was reversed, she received a refund of previously-intercepted monies, and she was finally free of this incredibly daunting burden. We have stayed in contact throughout the years and she has even donated to MVLS out of appreciation for their service. – Heather Posey, EA, Esq.

What would you say to others who are considering volunteering with or supporting MVLS?
Volunteering with MVLS exposes you to new issues and areas that you may not see in your current practice. The MVLS free trainings, mentorship programs, and hands-on experience with incredibly appreciative clients is invaluable, especially for newer lawyers.  – Hunter Scott, Esq.
