Volunteer of the Month | Jane Sopher

We’re proud to recognize Jane Sopher as the Volunteer of the Month. Read on to learn more about Jane and her experience as an MVLS volunteer.

Why do you choose to volunteer with MVLS?
I volunteer with MVLS because I believe it is important to give back to the community. I have been lucky enough to have my own firm for almost 30 years and have always chosen to include pro bono work as part of my practice.

Are there any recent cases that you’re proud of? Tell us more about what happened, or about what you learned.
Honestly, I’m proud of every case that I take. It is so important to have a Will and Powers of Attorney, and if someone is struggling financially, that doesn’t mean that they don’t have the same need for those documents. Everyone should have access to these basic documents. If I can help ensure that access, then I have accomplished my goal.

What would you say to others who are considering volunteering with or supporting MVLS?
MVLS provides a really wide range of critical legal services to people who wouldn’t otherwise have access to them. To be a part of that is incredibly gratifying.
