We’re proud to recognize Alex Montanio as the Volunteer of the Month. Read on to learn more about Alex and her experience as an MVLS volunteer. 

Why do you choose to volunteer with MVLS?  
I volunteer with MVLS because the support from MVLS staff members is excellent. If I have a question about a case or want to brainstorm a strategy or approach, someone from MVLS has always been enthusiastic about helping me to better serve the client.

Are there any recent cases that you’re proud of? Tell us more about what happened, or about what you learned.   
I’ve been doing a lot of estate planning cases recently. I like getting to know the client and their families as we work together to secure their legacy and preserve their most significant asset, their home. My clients share their legal needs, but my most recent client also sent me picture’s from her daughter’s baby shower. The services we completed together ensure stability for multiple generations of her family!

What would you say to others who are considering volunteering with or supporting MVLS?
Taking a case is easy, there is a lot of support, and even the most straightforward legal work can make a huge difference to the client. Each pro bono case is reminder of how important volunteering is for solving both individual problems and addressing systemic issues.
