We’re excited to recognize Liz Johnson as the Volunteer of the Month. Read on to learn more about Liz and her experience as a MVLS volunteer.

Why do you choose to volunteer with MVLS?
I choose to volunteer with MVLS because I have the skills to navigate estate matters and deed recordation, and it feels meaningful to use that experience to help someone who truly needs it. MVLS cases are often some of the most challenging – and that’s part of what I enjoy. Even after about ten years of doing this work, every case presents something unexpected, and without fail I learn something new each time.
Are there any recent cases that you’re proud of? Tell us more about what happened, or about what you learned.
Liz frequently takes on complex estate administration and deed recordation matters, and she shared that the ongoing learning process is one of the most fulfilling aspects of her volunteerism. Her dedication to guiding clients through emotionally and legally complicated circumstances reflects her deep commitment to ensuring Marylanders have access to stability and security.
What would you say to others who are considering volunteering with or supporting MVLS?
For anyone considering volunteering or supporting MVLS, I’d say this: your work will make a real difference, and you’ll grow as an advocate with every case you take on.
