Why Tracy Volunteers With MVLS

I choose to volunteer with MVLS because access to justice should never be a privilege—it should be a right. Too many individuals are left to navigate complex legal issues on their own, not because they lack the will, but because they lack the resources.

As someone pursuing a career in law, I feel a deep responsibility to be part of the solution. MVLS allows me to stand in that gap by offering support, guidance, and compassion to people during some of the most vulnerable moments in their lives. For me, this work is not just about gaining experience; it’s about purpose, impact, and using my voice to uplift others.

A Moment That Stuck With Tracy

One experience that stayed with me was observing an attorney go above and beyond for a client who came in feeling overwhelmed and unsure of what to do next. The client was facing a difficult situation and clearly felt lost in the process.

Instead of simply providing basic information, the attorney took the time to understand their circumstances, explain options clearly, and ensure the client felt supported every step of the way. What stood out most was the patience, compassion, and dedication shown in that moment.

Watching that level of care reminded me of the kind of legal professional I aspire to be. It showed me that making a difference is not always about big gestures, but about being present, intentional, and willing to go the extra mile.

Tracy’s Advice to New Volunteers

I would encourage anyone considering volunteering with MVLS to take that step—you will not regret it. The impact you make extends far beyond what you may initially see.

Every conversation, every resource shared, and every moment of support has the potential to change someone’s life. MVLS is more than an organization; it is a lifeline for many individuals and families.

Being a part of that mission is both humbling and empowering. It reminds you that even small acts of service can create lasting change.
