Water Accountability and Equity Act Press Conference

MVLS Staff Attorney Ellyn Riedl spoke at the Water Accountability and Equity Act press conference on Monday, Dec. 3, with support from Food and Water Watch as well as MVLS staff members. This new legislation from City Council President Young’s office would create an income-driven, percent-based affordability program, rather than a flat rate discount which is currently in place, create an Office of the Consumer Advocate to assist customers with Baltimore City Department of Public Works disputes, eliminate tax sales due to unpaid water bills, and would allow tenants to access the affordability program, in addition to homeowners.
